More than 25 years of experience in Agro and Bioenergy

Green Gas Iberian Ventures promotes, develops, builds and operates Agro-Methane, organic fertiliser and bio-CO₂ plants. We call it Agro-Methane because we only produce renewable gases from by-products of agricultural, livestock and forestry origin.

We combine our experience in Agronomy and Bioenergy with a team specialising in renewable gases, organic fertilisers and financing.

What sets us apart is our unique experience in Bioenergy. We understand the countryside and bioenergy because we were born with it

  • Experience in biomethane development with companies such as TotalEnergies and Qualitas Energy: pipeline of >30 projects, €750 million.
  • Experience in developing electrical and thermal biomass projects with partners such as Iberdrola, EDF and Factorverde: pipeline of >3 projects (2, 8 and 15 MW electrical).
  • Experience in developing biomass district-heating networks with partners such as DH Ecoenergías: pipeline of >30 projects (Móstoles, Ávila, Palencia, Zamora, Burgos networks…).
  • We have a team of more than 20 people covering every technical, economic and legal aspect of renewable gas project development.

Dialogue from day zero

We know that any project can raise questions in the environment where it is developed. We don't dodge them: we want to answer them one by one with the best possible argument — information and transparency.

Odours

We start from an analysis of the current situation, commission a technical odour study and model the scenario with the plant in operation, taking account of location, winds and other factors. The design of the reception, production and storage areas is defined technically, applying the best available techniques for odour reduction. A continuous monitoring system is put in place and published on the plant's website.

Traffic

Sites are selected so that access does not pass through towns or villages. A traffic plan is drawn up and compared with the current situation. The best logistics equipment is selected to reduce journeys and transport costs. Where possible, by-products are pumped by pipeline, avoiding road transport altogether.

Why here?

We analyse the local Agro sector in detail, identifying producers and by-product flows and adapting the sizing of the plant to their availability and characteristics. The current situation is compared with the situation should the plant be developed. Only if current management is improved and existing pollution and emission problems are reduced do we proceed to develop the project engineering.

Pollution and health

We start by selecting the best available techniques, drawn from the operating experience of thousands of plants producing across Europe. If sustainability leaders such as Denmark, the Netherlands or Germany have the best technologies, we simply bring them to our territory. We address real problems without hiding them, with technical rigour. Only if current management is improved and existing pollution and emission problems are reduced do we proceed to develop the project engineering. We cannot claim to know more about sustainability than our European predecessors, who have been applying this technology for years.

Macro-plants

For us there are no macro-plants or micro-plants, only plants adapted to the availability of nearby resources (within a radius of less than 35 km) that are economically viable enough to be financed. In fact, each project is sized to that reality, adapted to the by-products available in the immediate surroundings.

A "pull effect"

This supposed pull effect has not occurred anywhere in Europe where these facilities have been operating for decades. We cannot claim to know more about sustainability than our European predecessors, who have been applying this technology for years.

Industrial safety

Any of our facilities carries less risk than a conventional gas boiler. The available technology and rigorous compliance with legislation minimise all industrial risks. Thousands of similar plants operate in complete safety across Europe.

Transparency and dialogue

That is why we are here, and that is why our motto is Legitimacy in Agro-Methane: communication and transparency from the outset. From the very first moment we define a Communication Plan and set up a monitoring committee with local authorities and stakeholders that oversees every phase of the project's development.

Territorial saturation

Spain and Portugal have the potential to develop hundreds of plants. Indeed, Spain and Portugal need to bring hundreds of plants on line as soon as possible to solve many environmental problems and to produce home-grown organic fertilisers that improve the quality of our soils. Blocking an Agro-Methane project means holding back the energy transition and taking responsibility for the emission and leachate problems this technology solves.
