From the AGRO, for the AGROWe call it AGRO-METHANE because this energy comes from our territory, from our AGRO sector: agriculture, livestock farming, agri-food industries and forestry. The origin of our energy and the destination of our fertilisers is the Iberian countryside.
The cycle, step by step

From AGRO organic matter to the customers who need gas

Organic matter

Agricultural, livestock and forestry by-products from the surroundings of the production plant.

Biogas

Produced by a natural process of anaerobic digestion of the organic matter.

Agro-Methane + organic fertilisers

After cleaning the biogas we obtain biomethane of the quality required for injection into the gas grids. Digestion also yields a digested organic product from which we obtain organic fertilisers.

End customers

The gas (methane/CH₄) injected into the grid is consumed in multiple energy, industrial and domestic applications. In our projects we also promote sustainable mobility, using our gas as a renewable fuel for lorry and tractor fleets. The bio-CO₂ is sold for industrial use or as a precursor of biofuels such as bioethanol. The organic fertiliser is used by our farmers or sold as a registered organic fertiliser.

What Agro-Methane delivers

Renewable gases

Harnessing our organic by-products to produce clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil gas imported from oil-producing countries (bioeconomy and genuine circular economy).

Organic fertilisers

The digestate obtained from the biodigestion process is used to produce organic fertilisers that return to the field as enriched (N-P-K), matured organic fertiliser, improving the supply of organic matter and therefore the structure and the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil (regenerative agriculture).

Fewer emissions, elimination of leachates

Reduction of greenhouse-gas emissions (CO₂ and CH₄) from the management of agricultural organic by-products. Elimination of nitrate leachates into aquifers. Using biomethane from organic by-products avoids between 80% and 100% of the CO₂ emissions arising from the use of fossil gas in the same energy applications.

Contribution to rural development

More population and more employment in the territory. We strengthen primary-sector activity with a new business that reinforces the management of organic by-products.

Bio-CO₂

High-purity biogenic CO₂ for the food industry and for the production of biofuels such as bioethanol.

Genuine circular economy

We create a genuine circular economy, generating a virtuous circle that closes the cycle of the organic matter our soils so badly need and integrates it into the production process of a renewable energy.
